Cervical Cancer Screening
Important Facts You Need to Know About Screening for Cervical Cancer

Cervical Cancer Facts

Cervical Cancer Facts

Most cervical cancer has a long state where it lies growing and developing. This can exist for 10 years or more before a more invasive and deadly form of the cancer develops. There are many successful treatment programs available for this preinvasive state of cervical cancer. Thus, the earlier a woman detects cervical abnormalities and changes the more likely treatment is to be effective.

Cervical cancer is one of the leading causes of death in women in developing countries. In the United States it accounts for few deaths mainly because of acceptable screening methods and programs. Many times severe forms of cervical cancer occur in women who aren’t screened adequately in the years preceding.

There is a large enough body of evidence supporting the assumption that satisfactory screening may reduce death rates significantly.
