Preparing for Cervical Cancer Screening

Preparation for Screening

Cervical Cancer Treatment

There are certain steps you should take to prepare yourself for your Pap evaluation. These steps will increase the chances that your Pap detects any irregular changes in the cervix, thus improving the likelihood for early treatment of cancerous growths.

Before your screening:

  • Avoid douching or using tampons.
  • Avoid sexual Intercourse for 48 hours before your test.
  • Avoid using any medications in the vagina.
  • Schedule your test outside your normal menstrual cycle.

Disorder of the cervix are common. The pap test is the best way to find changes early before they become serious. Avoid having ambiguous results and having to repeat the pap test by preparing yourself for your pap evaluation.
